Parent Child Team “Who Dat?” Ranks 10th in U.S. Wii Games: Summer 2010

“Who Dat?” made it to the finals with the 2nd highest score among the 2,846 Parent/Child teams that entered the nation-wide Wii Games: Summer 2010 competition.  We were only ten points behind the leading team.  At the Finals, we ended up in the Top Ten, placing 10th among the “Best of the Best”.

This Parent/Child team didn’t go home empty-handed.  By qualifying for the Finals, we received a mini vacation in Redondo Beach, CA which included four nights free at the Crown Plaza Redondo Beach & Marina Hotel, free limo rides to and from the hotel, $400 for food & expenses, and a Wii Finalist track jacket, each.  We only live 45 miles from the Redondo Beach Pier, that’s why we had a limo – most finalists were flown in for free.

Zac-Attack holds on to Shawn Johnson, the Olympic gold medalist and Dancing With The Stars champion. This moment was one of the highlights of the 3rd grader’s summer adventure with the Wii Games Competition.

We won prizes for playing the following games: PunchOut, Birds Eye Bulls Eye, Archery, Just Dance, Mario Kart, New Super Mario Brothers, Super Mario Galaxy 2, World of Goo, Tatsunoki vs. Capcom, Super Mario Bros 3, & Bit Trip Runner.  The prizes we won included: Mario Wiimote skin, Luigi Wiimote skin, Wii Games: Summer 2010 ball caps, Mario plushie, Hula Hoops, Mario Yahtzee, & Nintendo Collector’s Edition Monopoly (daddy won this by dancing in front of the stage).

Zac-Attack spent most of his free time playing these new & pre-release games: Metroid, Wii Party, Kirby’s Epic Yarn, Pikachu’s Adventure, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Golden Eye 007, Just Dance 2, & Disney Epic Mickey.

I’m very proud of Zac-Attack for the way he handled himself throughout the competition. He did his share of trash talking to the other kids and even their dads, but he did it in a friendly & respectful way.

Hey Guys! I randomaly stumled on your site. This is Pat(Duke’s dad) from team “Put Up Your Dukes”. It was great to meet you guys and it was certainly a great time. Yeah… I seem to remember a little smack-talk! hahaha.. That’s ok though it was all in good fun. Hope to see you guys next year. Did you get a list of scores for all the teams? I can’t find it anywhere and I don’t even know what place we finished in. I think it was either 5th 6th or 7th. Any help would be appreciated. Take Care!

    • Hey Pat! We’re glad we met you guys! Maybe we’ll see you guys at the Winter Games. Well, Put Up Your Dukes outscored us by 30 points, 18,150, so that ranks you #9 in the U.S. I videotaped the screens that were only showing the Top 10 teams. The leaderboard hasn’t been updated under Grand Championship, yet.

    • ESPN had a short clip of the Hula Hooping on SportsCenter’s Top 10 Plays, yesterday. I found it on their website, yesterday, but now it’s gone. Luckily, I captured the video – I’ll put on my blog very soon.
